Heathrow Airport

Heathrow Airport’s objective for the 2017 AOA UK Aiports Safety Week was to bring safety issues to the attention of the entire community at the airport. To achieve this, Heathrow organised a road show during the week at different terminals and other parts of the airport. Dwayne Black, from Heathrow’s Airside Operations, gives more details on how that went. Humberside Airport

The theme for AOA UK Airports Safety Week at Humberside Airport was ‘knowledge through sharing experiences’. This saw a mixture of events, from discussions, practical operational demonstrations to competitions with prizes and visits across the whole airport. They also had a social media campaign, reaching a worldwide audience. Read more

Leeds Bradford Airport

Richard Duncan, Head of Airfield Services at Leeds Bradford Airport, writes about their varied AOA UK Airports Safety Week activities. This included a tour of the airport for 30 pupils from Pool Primary School, who even got the opportunity to help the operations team check the runway for foreign object debris. Read more

London City Airport

This year, AOA UK Airports Safety Week was London City Airport’s biggest ever, and even saw airports from Switzerland, Iceland, Czech Republic and Norway visit. Their mission for the week was to build awareness but to do it in a fun and engaging fashion, as Airside Safety & Compliance Manager Harry Harrad describes in his Safety Week diary. Read more

AOA UK Airports Safety Week at Gatwick Airport went extremely well and exceeded our expectations. More than 400 airside workers visiting the AOA airside safety bus alone and the week coincided with the delivery of the world’s largest order of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Bosses, as Jerry Barkley, Head of Compliance at Gatwick Airport, describes in his blog.
